1. The Electoral College was never a close race. All those swing state polls were skewed because 5-7% of his supporters were ashamed to admit they were voting for him. But they were, and they did.
2. Kamala had two of the best months in presidential campaign history, but in the end, was never able to put enough distance between herself and Biden. “Nothing comes to mind,” only sealed her fate.
3. Had Biden dropped out earlier, and let the Primary process play out naturally, it’s possible Kamala could have been supplanted by someone independent of Biden’s Administration. But identity politics is so deeply embedded in Democrat DNA, anyone running against the sitting VP would have been considered an apostate.
4. Both parties are controlled by a strong ideological center of gravity. Republicans cannot see that theirs is authoritarian and cruel. Democrats cannot see that theirs is still considered weak and naive on issues like crime and illegal immigration.
5. Walz was a natural campaigner, and a wonderful neighbor. I still want to buy him a beer. But he brought little else to the table, and let Vance run away with their debate. Everyone is talking about how Shapiro would have helped with Pennsylvania, but Mark Kelly was an astronaut, Gulf War veteran, Navy pilot, and the son of two cops. That would have been far more dramatic and emotionally compelling for an ad campaign than tips on oil changes.
6. Judge Juan Merchan let the defendant run wild during his trial. Anyone else would have been slapped in irons and held in contempt of court for his antics. So much for equal justice under the law.
