This morning I was trying to capture some action shots at the volleyball court — it’s actually about 20 nets on the beach — anyway, it was co-ed competition and there were about 50 players on the sand, but a couple of the girls started yelling at me, “Look at that pervert taking pictures!” They wanted the guys to come over and beat my a**, but the guys said I was just taking pictures of the action. “No,” said the girls, “he’s taking pictures of us!” So I just made a gracious exit. People in California will smash your camera so street photography can be risky.
Is he pointing at you? I usually get a different gesture when I’m taking street photos.
He was. He got a quick primer on photography in a public space.
